She had been an inpatient for two weeks and died unexpectedly after surgery. She was born in Somerset County, daughter of Charles R. and Anna (Musser) Hoffman, Nov. 3, 1905, and lived in Berlin before moving to Akron in 1928. She was co-owner of Smith Service Station at E. Market Street and Canton Road in Akron, and assisted her husband in the operation of the business for 42 years. Member of St. Mark Lutheran Church. Survived by husband, Lawrence L. (Smitty); daughters: Mrs. Don (Audrey) Thorburn and Mrs. Bill (Lynn) Brant, both of Uniontown, Ohio; grandchildren: Terri Saba of Canal Fulton, Ohio; John Thorburn, Oakton, Va.; great-granddaughter, Valarie Marie Saba; sister, Mrs. Mae (Grace) Nunnari, Somerset. Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 24, from the Hopkins Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road, Akron, Ohio, Pastor George L. Murphy officiated. Burial Hillside Memorial Park, Akron.
