(Lightning) Smith, 66, of Acosta, died Dec. 5, 1981, in Mercy Hospital, Johnstown. Born Feb. 8, 1915, in Jenner Township, a son of the late William W. and Nellie (Dudek) Smith. Preceded in death by parents, two brothers, Joe and Stanley. Survived by his wife, the former Ann Benini and these children: Marvin F., married to the former Georgianna Flowers, Jennerstown; Marcia, wife of Charles Kerekes, Boswell RD 2; Particia [sic], wife of Jeffrey Evans, Stoystown RD 1; and Mary Jean, at home; eight grandchildren; and these brothers and sisters: John, Martin, and Mary Zurvansky, all of Quecreek; Andrew, Virginia Beach, Va.; Walter, and Edward, both of Tonawanda, N.Y.; and Helen Brenan, Beloit, Ill. Member of St. John's Roman Catholic Church, Acosta; UMWA; Old Timers Baseball Association; and Jenner Rod and Gun Club. He was a retired coal miner, retired PennDOT employee, and a veteran of World War II. Friends are being received in the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home, where wake service was conducted at 7 p.m. Sunday. Funeral Mass Tuesday 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Church, Acosta, with the Rev. Father Bejamin Dykas.
