Marion Smith, 71, Melcroft, died April 22, 1990, at the Frick Community Health Center, Mt. Pleasant. Born Dec. 12, 1918, at Confluence, son of the late Ralph and Pearl (Tannehill) Smith. In Addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Carl and Kenneth Smith, and a half-sister, Marie. He is survived by wife, Lorraine Stoner Smith; his step-mother, Bertha Smith, Uniontown; one son, David Smith, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; one daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Donna) Firestone, Normalville; six grandchildren; brother, Glenn Smith, Duluth, Minn.; sister, Mrs. George (Louise) Lenhart, Buford, S.D.; 3 half-brothers, Robert Smith, Kingwood; Donald Smith, Duluth, Minn., and Ralph Smith, Confluence; 4 half-sisters, Mrs. John (Clara Mae) Calvert, Xenia, Ohio; Evelyn Grafton, Duluth, Minn.; Virginia Smith, Uniontown, and Shirley Uphold, Oregon. Graduate of the former Confluence High School, and Findley College, Findley, Ohio. Following his undergraduate studies, he was a graduate of Winebrenner Seminary, Findley, Ohio, and became an ordained minister of the Western Pa. Conference of the Churches of God. He received his master's degree from the University of Pittsburgh and later received an honorary doctorate from Findley College. He served the Buchanan-Breakneck-Clinton circuit from 1940-43, the Latrobe Church of God 1940-48, and the Indian Head Church of God, 1948 until his retirement in 1980. Following his retirement, he served the Mt. Nebo Church of God, and he was an associate of the Clyde Brooks Funeral Home Inc., Melcroft, for several years. Friends will be received from 7-9 p.m. Monday and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, at Clyde Brooks Funeral Home Inc., Route 711, Melcroft, Pa. Additional viewing will take place at the Indian Head Church of God from noon until 1 p.m. Wednesday, the hour of the service, with Rev. Larry White and Rev. James Moss officiating.
