Smith, 82, Juniata St., Boswell, died March 30, 2003, at the Select Specialty Hospital, Johnstown. Born Oct. 30, 1920, in Boswell, son of George H. and Nannie P. (Shaulis) Smith. Preceded in death by parents, wife, the former Alverda Mae Speicher, Sept. 11, 1982; grandson, Harrison Lee Smith Jr., sisters: Hazel Kennell and Sara E. Smith and brothers: Harry and George J. Smith. Survived by sons: Harrison Lee Smith Sr., married to Marsha Hancock, Friedens; and Ronald L., at home; granddaughters: Jeanne Marie (Smith), married to Brian Pokos, S. Houston, Texas; Rhonda Sue (Smith) Freeman, and Jaclyn Botkip, both of Friedens; great-grandchildren Elizabeth and John Pokos and Daniel James Freeman, and brother, Lewis H. Smith, Port Lucie, Fla. U.S Navy Veteran of World War II. Member of Boswell Post 461 American Legion and the Robinson Local 1257 UMWA. Retired from Florence Mining Co. with 38 years total service in coal mining. Friends received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Hoffman Funeral Home, Main St., Boswell, where a service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Gregory Stauffer officiating.
