Smith, 86, of 709 Prospect St., Waynesboro, widow of Elmer E. Smith, died Nov. 8, 1981 in the Waynesboro Hospital. She was born in Meyersdale, Aug. 10, 1895, daughter of the late Daniel L. and Grace E. (Miller) Miller. Her early life was lived in Confluence and she was a graduate of the Confluence High School. Following her graduation from Juniata College, she moved to Waynesboro and taught home economics in the Waynesboro Senior High School until her marriage in Aug. 1923. Her husband died in April, 1967. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ of Waynesboro. She was also a member of the Franklin County Republican Women and the auxiliaries of the American Legion and Waynesboro Hospital. She is survived by a son, Ellsworth M. Smith, Waynesboro; a daughter, Mrs. Rae Ellen Murphy, Oakland, N.J.; six grandchildren; and a brother, Samuel E. Miller, Pittsburgh. Graveside services were held in the Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro, in charge of the Rev. Dr. Beth Clark. The Republic, November 12, 1981 [S2086]
