"Hub" Smith, 72, of Berlin RD 4, died Sept. 7, 1994, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, Md. Born April 1, 1922, in Brothersvalley Township. Son of Harry and Nellie (Hartman) Smith. Preceded in death by parents and brother, Charles. Survived by his wife of 54 years, the former Doris Lytle; sons, Paul, married to the former Dorothy Suhrie of Berlin, and James, married to the former April Fujiwara, Livonia, Mich.; grandchildren: Jeffrey, Keith, Alan, Peter, and Charlotte Smith and Gerily Stayrook, and great-grandchildren Joseph, Ethan and Brianna Stayrook and Justin and Kayla Smith. Former owner of Smith's Service Station and Herbert Smith Trucking. Veteran of World War II. Life member of Berlin VFW Post 7295 and past District 23 commander. Former member of the Loyal Order of the Cooties. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin, where service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Rev.
