HERMAN SMITH

Glencoe Echoes - Herman Smith Dropped Dead - Glencoe - Jan. 20 - Herman 
Smith, aged 74 years, dropped dead on Monday at 2:30 pm, while loading 
a car of locust posts.  He was in his usual good health up to the 
moment he dropped dead, & was joking & laughing just before he toppled 
over.  He is survived by his wife, who was Anna Christner of Garrett, & 
four sons, Jesse, Harry & Travis, of Cumberland, & Francis of 
Johnstown.  The funeral will be held on Thursday at 10 am.
  Mr. Smith was born in Bedford county & came to Northampton Twp. & 
cleared a farm on which he lived for half a century.  He was a hard-
working, honest & industrious citizen.
