Hilda Marie was a loving cheerful child, winning the hearts of all with whom she came in contact, by her cheerful sunny disposition. That such a child should be called to answer the call so soon in her young life, is sad indeed, and her untimely death is mourned by many friends both young and old. She is survived by her foster parents, Jesse and Sadie Smith, and a foster brother, Jesse, Jr. A loving bud, from heaven came, To dwell with us, and cheer our lives. To live and grow in God's dear name, And scatter sunshine from the skies, But alas, the flower, too frail to bloom In its full beauty here. God plucked the bud and took it Home, To bloom in shining splendor there. Meyersdale Republican, February 13, 1930
