  SMITH
  
    Homer C. Smith, 78, East Main St., Somerset, died March 21, 1983,
  at Memorial Hospital, Johnstown.
    He was born Feb. 25, 1905, in Meyersdale, a son of the late Calvin
  L. and Eliza Smith.  He was preceded in death by his wife, the former
  LaVerne F. Barnett; a son, Roland; and a brother, Bruce.
    He is survived by these children: Mrs. Melvin (Lynne) Judy and Mrs.
  Coleen Ankney, Niles, Ohio; Mrs. Paul C. (Joan) Martz III, Somerset;
  Neil, Somerset RD 5; and six grandchildren.  He was a brother of:
  Mrs. Daniel (Faye) Long, Acosta; Mrs. Beatrice Rice, York; Mrs.
  August (Armida) Tagnosky, New Jersey; and Mrs. Marcella Swarner,
  Somerset.  Member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ and a retired
  Somerset Borough employee.
    Friends were received at the Richard E. Hauger Funeral Home, where
  services were conducted Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Gene
  Sellers officiating.  Interment, Union Cemetery, Meyersdale.
