  SMITH
  
  James H. Smith, 91, of Friedens, RD 1, died Sept. 14, in Maple
  Mountain Manor.  Born Sept. 12, 1897, in Quemahoning Township.  Son
  of the late David H. and Cora Ellen (Good) Smith.  Preceded in death
  by his wife, the former Eva May Shaffer; granddaughters, Stephanie
  Smith; great granddaughter, Danielle Veres; brothers: Arthur and
  Herbert; sisters: Clara Widman, Ruth Stern, Minnie Shipley, Margaret
  Smith and Ada Smith.  Survived by son, David H., married to the
  former Annette Goebel of Friedens, RD 1; three granddaughters: Mrs.
  Rick (Linda) Veres, Stoystown RD 2; Mrs. James (Kathleen) Brant,
  Greenville, S.C.; and Mrs. Timothy (Carla) Livingston, Boswell, RD 1;
  also four great grandchildren.  Member of St. Paul's United Church of
  Christ, retired teacher from Somerset Area Schools with 47 years
  service.  Friends received 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at the
  Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home where service will be held 1 p.m.
  Saturday, Rev. Glenn E. Sadler officiating.  Interment Husband
  Cemetery.  Contributions may be made to the American Kidney
  Foundation.
