  JAMES W. SMITH
  
    James W. Smith, 81, of Grantsville, Md., died December 29, 1979, in
  Meyersdale Community Hospital.
    He was born January 31, 1898, at Halleck, W.Va., and he was a son
  of the late James Elery and Cora Phillips Smith.
    He is survived by a brother, James Glen Smith, Gladesville, W.Va.,
  and a sister, Grace Smith, Morgantown, W.Va.
    He was preceded in death by his wife, Letie Shay Smith, his
  daughter, Pauline Hart, and a brother and sister.
    Funeral services were held at the Browning Funeral Home in
  Kingwood, W.Va.; with the Rev. Harry Mikels officiating.  Interment
  was in Reedsville Cemetery, W.Va.
