  SMITH
  
    John F. Smith Sr., 82, of 277 Somerset Street, Jerome, died July
  31, 1974, in Memorial Hospital, Johnstown.  Born May 13, 1892, in
  Meyersdale, he was a son of Barney J. and Ellen (Rumiser) Smith.  He
  was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, the former Clara
  Steinly, on Nov. 11, 1963; and three sisters.  
    Surviving are these children: Robert D., of El Paso Texas; Ethel,
  wife of Richard Martin, Alexandria, Va.; John F. Jr., of Hiawatha,
  Utah; Ruth, wife of Lester Lehman, Hollsopple RD 2; and Donald M.
  Smith of Jerome; fourteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
    He was a brother of Mrs. Helen Saylor, Akron, Ohio; and Mrs.
  Pauline Banson of Phoenix, Ariz.
    He was a retired foreman of Hillman Coal and Coke Company of Jerome.
    Funeral service was conducted Sunday afternoon in Joseph G. Hoffman
  Funeral Home, Boswell, with Rev. Elwood R. Vandiver officiating. 
  Interment in Maple Spring Cemetery.
