  John J. Smith, 70, Mt. Savage, Md., DOA at Sacred Heart Hospital,
  Cumberland, Md. Jan. 7, 1984.  Born in Mt. Savage, Md.  Was fire clay
  stripper for Harvison-Walker Refractories, having worked throughout
  Somerset County.  Survived by son, John C. Smith, owner of Bonanza
  Restaurant, Somerset.  Also survived by wife, Geraldine (Bennett)
  Smith; another son; three daughters; 12 grandchildren and three
  great-grandchildren.  Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
  Monday (today) at Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, LaVale, Md.,
  where service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday.  Interment, Restlawn
  Memorial Gardens, LaVale.
