LAURA E. SMITH

  Mrs. Laura E. Smith, 71, Pittsburgh, died Sunday, Jan. 2, in Shadyside 
Hospital.  She was the wife of Lewis Smith, and the daughter of the late Peter 
and Sara Wilhelm Caler.  She was born in Larimer Township, Somerset County, July 
5, 1877.  She had lived in Pittsburgh about 20 years.
  Besides her husband, the following children survive: Austin Smith and Mrs. 
Herman Schrotler, Pittsburgh; Florence Smith, at home; and by two brothers, 
Edward Caler, Pittsburgh, and George W. Caler, Sand Patch.
  Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in White Oak Lutheran Church, 
with the Rev. Emory Mankamyer officiating.  Burial under direction of H. R. 
Konhaus, Meyersdale, was in the church cemetery.
