Smith, well known resident of Meyersdale, died in the Somerset Community Hospital on Thursday evening, Aug. 28th, at 5:10 p.m. He was a semi- invalid for the past five years as the result of various ailments, sudden complications of which caused his death. Mr. Smith was born in Meyersdale, July 6, 1883, a son of the late George W. and Catherine Smith. He grew to manhood here and was united in marriage with Martha Albright, also of Meyersdale. He was a veteran bandsman, having been a member of the Meyersdale Citizen's Band for many years. He was an active member of Amity Evangelical and Reformed Church and a member of the Men's Bible Class in the church school. His main sport was fishing and he indulged in this sport as late as Monday prior to his death. He was a kind and sympathetic personality and his cheerful disposition never failed him even in the years of intense suffering that fell his lot. As is the case with a person of such characteristics, Mr. Smith enjoyed a large friendship which was evidenced by the many beautiful floral tributes surrounding his bier. Funeral services were held at the George Albright home on Sunday afternoon at 2:30 p.m., Rev. Nelson Brown, pastor of the deceased, delivered the funeral sermon. A trio sang "Lead Kindly Light" and "We Are Going Down The Valley." Interment was made in Union Cemetery under the direction of W. C. Price & Son. Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Mrs. Martha (Albright) Smith, and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Catherine Brown, Meyersdale; Mrs. Martha Eisentrout, Salisbury; Nevin Smith, Boswell; Ralph Smith, Somerset, and Virgil Smith, a patient in Veterans Hospital in Coatesville, Pa. Smith, Mrs. Harold Himes, Somerset; James, Mary Catherine, Vida Eisentrout; Emma and Mary Louise Lininger, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Eisentrout, Salisbury; Arline Schell, Mrs. J. H.
