Born Aug. 24, 1920 in Brothersvalley Township, the daughter of Homer and Mary (Ringler) Vought and Russell Shultz. Preceded in death by her parents and step father; husband, Charles Smith and sisters, Margaret Thomas and Florence Sarver. Survived by children, J. William married to the former Linda Kegg, Davidsville, Nancy married to Carl Bittner, Berlin, Thomas, married to the former Catherine Baxter, Ligonier; grandchildren Matthew and Lindsay Smith and Laurissa and Brad Bittner; great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Pearl Smith; brother Roy Shultz, Meyersdale and sisters Helen Lichty and Lois Saylor, both of Berlin. Member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Berlin. Life member of Berlin Lady Rebekah Lodge 277. She enjoyed reading and watching sports. She was a teller and bookkeeper for the former National Bank of Western Pa., Berlin and was a graduate of Berlin Brothersvalley High School, class of 1939. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin, where service will be held 11 a.m. Friday with Rev. Ralph G. Landis and Rev. Melvin A.
