Smith, 98, a resident at Patriot Manor, Somerset, formerly of York, Pa., died May 21, 1996. Born in Adams County on Dec. 2, 1897. She was the daughter of the late William and Catherine Rudisill Bievenour. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Bryan Smith. She is survived by a daughter, Rita Halverson, wife of Kenneth S. Halverson of Somerset, and by the following family: David Kuhn; John and Michelle Kuhn; Michael Kuhn; Kathryn and Lee Murdy; David, Susan, Jayme and Thomas Halverson; Daniel, Barbara, Jason and Matthew Halverson; Robert and Zachary Halverson; and Barry, Kori, Justin and Alan Halverson. She was a graduate of York County Academy and the Patrick Commercial School. She was honored by York City Council when they named "Mary Smith Lane" in York after her for her community service. She was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary in York, a charter member of the Catholic Women's Club of York and a charter member of the Young at Heart Club at Saint Joseph's Church in York. She was a Girl Scout leader for many years. She was a past president of Saint Joseph's Women's Parish Council and member of Saint Joseph's Parish in York and Saint Peter's Parish in Somerset. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Saint Peter's Parish School or Talus Rock Girl Scout Council. Visitation from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Robert H.
