    Maxine E. Smith, 60, Berlin, died Feb. 12, 2006, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital,
  Pittsburgh. Born July 16, 1945, in Everett, daughter of Dale and Mary (Barkman) McKinley.
  Preceded in death by parents and a sister, Shirley. Survived by husband of 40 years,
  Robert M. Smith; children, Tammy, married to Kenneth Fochtman, Frostburg, Md.; and
  Bradley, married to the former Patricia Spillers, Hummelstown. Also survived by
  grandchildren, Samantha Smith, Noah and Nicholas Fochtman; brothers, Richard (Marilyn)
  McKinley, Creedmoor, N.C.; and Michael (Jackie) McKinley, Friedens; and a sister, Kathy
  (David) Hay, Somerset. Also numerous nieces and nephews. She is a 1963 graduate of Berlin
  Brothersvalley High School. She was a customer service manager at Wal-Mart, Somerset. She
  was a member of St. Gregory's Catholic Church, Macdonaldton. Maxine loved gardening,
  traveling and spending time with her family and grandchildren. Family will receive
  friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin, where
  vigil for the deceased will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Funeral Mass will be held at 10
  a.m. Thursday at St. Gregory's Catholic Church, Macdonaldton. The Rev. James M. Dugan
  officiating. Committal at church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to St. G r
  e g o r y ' s Catholic Church, Berlin, PA 15530.
