  SMITH
  
    Mildred Smith, 78, Berlin RD 3, Macdonaldton, died Nov. 29, 1989,
  at Siemon Lakeview Manor Estate.  Born Oct. 11, 1911, in Windber,
  daughter of Edward and Susan (Malsberry) Scurfield.  Preceded in
  death by parents and sister, Evelyn VeVerka.  Survived by her husband
  of 53 years, Wilfred, and children: David, married to the former
  Suzanne Mack, Somerset; Susan Liggett, Plymouth, Mich.; and William,
  married to the former Linda Narad, Hummelstown.  Also six
  grandchildren.  Sister of William, Berlin, and Barbara Landis,
  Macdonaldton.  She was a teacher for 25 years in Brothersvalley
  Township and Berlin area schools and was former 4-H counselor.  She
  was a member of Somerset Garden Club, Plus Spring Women's Club,
  Ladies Auxiliary of Berlin Fire Company and Retired Teachers
  Association.  Family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
  Thursday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin, where service will be held
  at 10 a.m. Friday, the Revs. Ralph Mills and Ralph Landis
  officiating.  Interment, Berlin IOOF Cemetery.
