Born Jan. 25, 1929 in Somerset, son of the late Karl and Ethel (Alexander) Smith. Also preceded in death by stepfather, Frederick Hahn. Survived by wife, the former Hilda L. Berkley, and these children: Richard A. Smith Jr. of Woodbridge, Va., and Sherre Leigh Smith of Harrisburg. A brother of Mrs. David (Maxine) Brown of Malvern. Veteran of U.S. Army, Korean War. A 1947 graduate of former Stoystown High School. Retired motor inspector for LTV Steel Co. of Aliquippa. Member of United Steel Workers of America Local 1211 and the Monaca VFW Post. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, where service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, with the Rev. James R. Ling officiating.
