He was a former railroad maintenance worker and veteran of World War I. He was the son of Julius and Teresa Morgan Smith and was born April 20, 1895. His wife, Mrs. Maud (Mimma) Smith survives and the following children: Mrs. Edward Keifer and Robert Smith, Meyersdale; Clarence and Lawrence Smith, at home. Funeral services will be held (Thursday) at 2 p.m. at the home on High Street. The Rev. H. K. Hilner, pastor of Zion Lutheran Church, will officiate. Military rites also will be observed, in charge of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, of which he was a member. Burial in Union Cemetery under direction of H. R. Konhaus. The pallbearers will include members from the Lutheran Brotherhood of which he was a member. Besides his affiliation with the Legion, the Brotherhood and the VFW, he was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Meyersdale and the Brotherhood of Railroad trainmen.
