  SMITH
  
    Robert James Smith, 81, of Kattie's Assisted Living in Confluence,
  formerly of Hyosota, died Nov. 23, 2001 at Meyersdale Medical
  Center.  Born Oct. 26, 1920, in Pittsburgh, son of Edward and Clara
  Smith.  Preceded in death by parents; sons, James and Larry and
  brothers and sisters.  Survived by wife of 59 years, the former
  Mollie Berkebile of Confluence; sons, Robert C. of Monrovia, Md.; and
  Randolph S. Sr., married to the former Luann Hood of Damascus, Md.;
  nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.  He retired from
  the Bethlehem Steel Corp. plate mill.  He was an Air Force veteran of
  World War II.  Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and
  from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at George E. Mason Funeral Home
  Inc., Davidsville, where services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, the
  Rev. Donald Speigle officiating.  Interment, Blough Mennonite
  Cemetery.
