HUTZELL SMITH Mrs. Susan D. Hutzell Smith, widow of Fillmore Smith, died at her home at Wittenberg, Monday eve, at 10 o'clock July 27, 1931. She was aged 69 years, 6 months and 19 days. She was the only child of the late Mr. and Mrs. Perry Hutzell. She had been in ill health for ten years with dropsy. Her entire life was spent in the community in which she died. Her husband passed away 27 years ago. Two children also preceded her to the grave - one son, William who died six years ago, and one daughter, Mrs. W. A. DeLozier, four years ago. She is survived by ten children, four sons and six daughters: P. H. Smith, Sand Patch; F. F. Smith, Brownsville; Ida (Mrs. J. S.) Wable, Boswell; Agnes, Mrs. Bert Wable, Fort Hill; John L. Smith, Listie; Berdella (Mrs. Cyrus) Housel, Meyersdale; Martha (Mrs. Elmer) Petenbrink, Salisbury; G. D. Smith, Lydia (Mrs. Walter) Christner, and Eliza, Wittenberg. She had thirty-six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mrs. Smith was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. S. D. Sigler, of Salisbury, in the White Oak Lutheran Church, on Wednesday afternoon, at 2 o'clock with interment in the family plot in the church cemetery. Undertaker J. L. Tressler had charge of the burial. Mrs. Smith was highly esteemed by all who knew her. She was a devoted mother and kind neighbor and will be sadly missed in her home and community.
