Smith, 81, Myrtle Beach, S.C., recently of Ft. Pierce, Fla., died Oct. 14, 2004, at home. Born Dec. 15, 1922, in Johnstown, son of Virgil E. and Margaret E. (Dollard) Smith. Preceded in death by parents; son, Thomas J. Smith; grandson, Randy S. Smith; brothers, Edgar "Bo" and William; sister, Mary Catherine "Kay" Scott. Survived by wife, Betty L. (Sheets); son, Dennis (Jane Koontz), Hamilton Sqare, N.J.; daughter, Cynthia Ruisi (Joe), Little River, S.C.; and daughter, Claudia Stull (Dennis), Myrtle Beach, S.C.; grandchildren: Mark Smith, Susan Storaci, Ryan and Stacy Speigle, Ashley and Kelli Stull; great-grandsons, Bradley Speigle, Kyle Smith and Nicholas Storaci; sister, Peg Ream and brother, Jim. He was employed by Pennsylvania Harvestore and Sears, Roebuck and Co. He proudly served in the Army Air Corp in the Pacific Theatre during World War II and was past commander of the American Legion Post 294 in Johnstown. He was a member of St. Anastasia's Roman Catholic Church in Ft. Pierce, Fla. A Mass of Christian burial will be held today at St. Michael Catholic Church in Garden City, S.C. Remains will be interred in Somerset. In lieu of flowers, contributions are requested to Mercy Hospice of Myrtle beach, P.O. Box 50640, Myrtle Beach, S.C. 29579.
