  WALTER SMITH
  
    Walter William Smith, 76, of Westminster, Md., died Oct. 16, 1994
  at Sinai Hospital following an extended illness.
    Born in Frostburg, Md., he was the son of the late Walter and Mary
  Catherine (Atkinson).
    He is survived by his wife, Pauline (Mankamyer) Smith; son, John
  Smith of Mt. Airy, Md.; sisters: Gladys Winterstein and Anna Mae
  Winner, both of Cumberland; Virginia Shoemaker, Florida; Mary Jane
  Dom, Hagerstown; Betty Warnick and Lilly Rebecca Failinger, both of
  Baltimore; brothers: John H. and Joseph Smith, both of Florida;
  Franklin Smith, Baltimore; grandchildren: Wayne Smith, Pleasant
  Valley, Me.; Heather Smith, Mt. Airy; and two great grandchildren.
    Mr. Smith was a retired auto worker from the General Motors plant
  on Brauning Highway.  He was a wounded veteran of World War II.  He
  was a former member of the Meyersdale American Legion and 40 and 8.
    Funeral services were held Oct. 18 at the Pritts Funeral Home and
  Chapel, Westminster.  Interment, Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
