Smyers, 62, of Berlin RD 1, died Jan. 3, 1979 in Bedford Memorial Hospital. Born March 18, 1916 in Huntingdon, Pa., he was a son of the late Carl Smyers and Martha (Gray) Smyers. He was a retired employee of Bowman Distulation Company, Cleveland, and a member of First Methodist Church, Madison, Ohio. He was also a member of Grand Lodge, AF and AM 675, Cleveland; Legion of the Moose 117, Collinwood, Ohio; Moose 25 Club, Collinwood, and the New Baltimore Sportsmen's Association, New Baltimore. He was a social member of the Hyndman VFW. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Hilda (Turner) Smyers, six stepsons, Eugene Turner, Manns Choice; Cletus Turner and Roger Turner, both of Madison, Ohio; Eldie Turner and Freeman Turner, both of Thompson, Ohio; Harry T. Turner, Geneva, Ohio; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Arena Bradley, Deleon Springs, Fla.; a sister, Mrs. Helen Rhone, Arlington, Va.; 16 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Friends were received at the Zeigler Funeral Home where services were conducted by the Rev. Charles T. Bockhouse. Interment, Fairview Cemetery, Madison, Ohio. The Republic, January 11, 1979 [S2237]
