Snyder, 88, Manns Choice, died Aug. 16, 2005, at Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown. Born June 13, 1917, in Confluence, son of the late Elmer H. and Bessie (Brown) Snyder. On April 7, 1940, he married Florence Zimmerman and she preceded him in death on Dec. 23, 1995. Also preceded in death by son, Matthew A. Snyder; granddaughter Angela Jo; and two sisters, Fern Wentz and Dorothy Snyder. He is survived by four sons, Jack Z. Snyder, married to the former Debra Strayer, Bedford; Elmer H. Snyder, married to the former Gaynell Neal, Bedford; Amos D. Snyder and special friend, Deborah Branter, Stoystown; James W. Snyder and fiancˇe, Maureen Rohan, Jennerstown; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Mr. Snyder was a member of Bedford Trinity Lutheran Church, Bedford Masonic Lodge 320 F&AM, Harrisburg Consistory, Bedford Moose Lodge 480 and an associate member of VFW Post 9219 of Pleasantville. He retired in 1979 from PennDOT and prior to that owned and operated Snyder's Construction Company. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, Bedford. Viewing also one hour prior to the service at 11 a.m. Thursday at Bedford Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Raymond E. Short officiating.
