Snyder, 79, Somerset, passed on April 9, 2007, at Somerset Hospital. Born Nov. 2, 1927, in Millersburg, he is the son of the late John H. and Florence (Miller) Snyder. He is also preceded in death by his brother, John H. Snyder Jr., and sister, Anajane Helt. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joan (Good) Snyder; daughter, Diane Roberta Smith and husband, Ronald, Pittsburgh; son, Dale Barton Snyder and wife, Andra (MacBeth), Somerset; grandchildren, Michelle Polaski, Sterling, Va.; Cheryl Lynn Smith, Arlington, Va.; and Anne Mohr Snyder and Elizabeth Sloan Snyder, both of Somerset; and brothers, Max Miller Snyder of Atlantis, Fla.; and Karle Lanker Snyder, Trinity, Fla. Mr. Snyder served as branch manager for both the Somerset and Clarksburg, W.Va., offices of the Beckwith Machinery Co. of Pittsburgh from 1951 until his retirement in 1986. He us a veteran of the U.S. Army in World War II, where he served in the 34th Infantry Division. He is a graduate of Penn St. University, where he was a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. He was a member of the Jaffa Shrine and the Somerset Rotary Club. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 202 W. Union St., Somerset, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the Fellowship Hall. The Rev. Matthew Deal officiating. A committal service with full military honors accorded by the Somerset County Honor Guard will follow at Somerset County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 202 W. Union St. Somerset, PA 15501. Arrangements by Miller Funeral Home, Somerset.
