Cecil Snyder, 77, of Meyersdale, died Nov. 20, 1973, in Meyersdale Community Hospital. Born Aug. 23, 1896, in Bedford County, he was a son of the late Rev. Joseph F. and Rebecca (Forney) Snyder. He was preceded in death by his first wife, the former Effie McClune, in 1925, and a brother, Robert. Surviving are his widow, the former Lydia Glessner; two sons, Barry, of Bedford and Jack of Rockford, Ill.; also a grandchild; a brother, W. Scott Snyder of Crescent City, Fla.; a foster sister, Mrs. Blair Ritchey of Hollidaysburg; and a sister-in-law, Miss Elizabeth Glessner, Meyersdale, who resides with the Snyderis; a niece, Mrs. George Dunkle of Everett, and a nephew, Dr. Grayson Cypher Snyder, of Bloundstown, Fla. He was an employee of the Postal Transportation Service for 43 years, serving as supervisor for the latter 15 years on a B and O R. R. crew between Pittsburgh and Washington. For the past 10 years he was employed by the U. S. Department of Commerce Weather Service Forecast Bureau for the Meyersdale area. In December 1972, he was given a Service Award by the National Weather Service. He graduated from Juniata College in 1917. In his early years. He taught school in the rural area of Bedford County. Funeral services was held Friday afternoon in Amity United Church of Christ, Meyersdale, of which he was a member. Rev. Lloyd Sechriest was in charge of the service, assisted by Rev. John Glick and layman Ray Leckemby. Interment in the church cemetery under the direction of Price Funeral Home. Meyersdale Republican, November 29, 1973 [S2282]
