    Merle R. (Dixie) Snyder, 69, Rockwood RD 2, died Jan. 17, 1986, in
  Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, Md.  Born June 6, 1916, in
  Rockwood, son of the late Arthur and Sadie (Enos) Snyder.  Survived by
  wife of 33 years, former Eleanor Betty Schrock, Rockwood RD 2; two
  sons, James A., Garrett RD 1; and Kerry, at home; three sisters: Miss
  Stella Snyder, Rockwood; Mrs. Doris Hartline, Rockwood RD 2; and Mrs.
  Esther Hornyak, Gary, Ind.; two brothers: Glenn, Somerset; and Harry,
  Warren, Ohio; granddaughter, Amy, and grandson, Adam.  Member of Center
  Church, where he served on council.  Retired carpenter of Local 462.
  Army veteran of World War II.  Member of Rockwood American Legion Post
  279; F&AM Lodge No. 358, Somerset; Scottish Rite, Jaffa Temple;
  A.A.O.N.M.S., Altoona; Fraternal Order of Eagles; and VFW Post 185,
  Rockwood.  Friends will be received 7-9 p.m. Saturday, 2-4 and 7-9
  p.m. Sunday, and until noon Monday at William J. Wood Funeral Home,
  Rockwood, when remains will be removed to Center Church for funeral
  services at 1 p.m., the Rev. Tom Harrity officiating.  Interment,
  Rockwood I.O.O.F. Cemetery.  There will be no viewing at the church.
  Arrangements are under direction of William J. Wood Funeral Home,
  Rockwood, with Francis Brady supervising.
