Snyder, 81, of Somerset, passed on June 12, 2003 at Conemaugh Hospital in Johnstown. Born June 20, 1921 in Black Township, he is the son of Adam and Christie (Walters) Snyder. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, E. Jean Knupp and brother Wilbur Z. Snyder. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Hazelle (White) Snyder. They were married in Silver Spring, Md. in 1947. He is also survived by brother Walter Snyder of Rockwood; sisters, Doris Porter of Frostburg, Md. and Mary "Dolly" Greig of Somerset and numerous nieces and nephews. He was retired from the U.S. Army with 20 years of service having served in World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of the Division that stormed Omaha Beach in the Normandy Invasion. He was a life member of the VFW Post 554 and the American Legion Post 181, both in Somerset. He was a member of the Retired Enlisted Association, the Rockwood Rotary Club and the Rockwood Senior Citizens. He was a former mayor of Rockwood Borough and for many years he cooked banquets fort the Rockwood Fire Department's Ladies Auxiliary. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Somerset. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Miller Funeral Home, Somerset, where a service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Rev.
