  Gertrude J. Solomon, 92, of Hooversville, died Aug. 8, 2003 at Laurel
  View Village, Davidsville.  Born Jan. 9, 1911 in Hooversville,
  daughter of Jacob and Amanda (Custer) Shaffer.  Preceded in death by
  parents; husband, Dr. Michael Solomon in 1991, daughter, Helen;
  brother, Lloyd Shaffer and sisters Margaret Zimmerman and Florence
  Hoover.  Survived by a sister-in-law Helen Solomon of Windber;
  nieces, Florence, married to Clair Shaffer of Stoystown and Dorothy
  Howard of Pittsburgh; a nephew, Charles Zimmerman of Sebring,
  Florida; great-nieces: Valli Shaffer Hall and Diane Zimmerman
  Trithart, Cheryl Pstrovic and great-nephews, Kerry C. and Michael L.
  Shaffer and Barry and William Gilbert and John Howard.  Member of
  Hooversville United Methodist Church.  Family will receive friends
  from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Deaner Funeral Home,
  Hooversville where service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday.  Rev. Wes
  Yoder and Rev. Gerald Myers officiating.  Interment Grandview
  Cemetery, Johnstown.  Memorial contributions may be given to Laurel
  View Village Chapel Fund, 2000 Cambridge Dr., Davidsville, Pa. 15928.
