Emory Wilson Somerville, 86, retired Methodist minister and husband of Mrs. Cora Kight Somerville, died Saturday, June 4, at the home of his son, Francis Somerville, Berlin, Md. He was born in Bedford, Pa., December 13, 1862, the son of Abner and Lucinda (Leasure) Somerville. Surviving besides his wife are these sons, Francis of Berlin, Md., Morris of Baltimore, Md., and M/Sgt W. B. Somerville, Ft. Mason, Calif.; also four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one brother, Henry Somerville, Rock Falls, Ill. The Rev. Somerville resided in Grantsville several years after his marriage and had many friends there. He served as minister in the Southern Methodist Virginia conference for 22 years, retiring in 1939. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, June 7, at the Baoi Funeral Home, Westernport, Md., the Rev. O. E. Mitchell, Methodist minister, officiating. Masonic services at the grave in Philos cemetery, Westernport, were in charge of Mt. Carbon Lodge No. 28, A.F. and A.M. of Piedmont, W.Va., conducted by Raymond C. Hudson. Pallbearers were members of the organization. Relatives attending the funeral included Mrs. Somerville and son Francis, Berlin, Md.; Mr. and Mrs. Morris Somerville, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Vican and son, and Emory Somerville, all of Baltimore; Mrs. Rewbena Shaw, Culpepper, Va., Miss Mabel Baker and Abraham Shumaker, Boynton, Pa., Mrs. Eva Beachy and Miss Ethel Broadwater, Grantsville, and Mr. and Mrs. Howard Kight, Ridgely, W.Va. Meyersdale Republican, June 16, 1949
