Stoy Sorber, 83, Waynesburg, formerly of Somerset, died Nov. 23, 1978 in Greene County Memorial Hospital. Born Jan. 18, 1895 in Somerset, son of the late George W. and Ellen (Stoy) Sorber. Preceded in death by sister, Blanche S. Faulk. Survived by wife, the former E. Florence Brugh Sorber, one sister, Pearl Julian, St. Petersburg, Fla. Member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Somerset. Life member and past commander of S.S. Crouse Post 181, Somerset, B.P.O.E. Lodge 757, Waynesburg; V.F.W. Post and the Forty and Eight, Waynesburg; Somerset A.E.R.I.E. Lodge 1801, sons of the American Revolution. Veteran of World War I, having served as first lieutenant in 53rd Pioneer Infantry in Europe. Friends will be received after 2 p.m. Sunday in the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home, where service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, the Rev. H. James Meyers officiating.
