Born May 21, 1932 in Windber, daughter of Thomas and Elsie Lydia (Bloom) Southern. Preceded in death by parents, brother Thomas W. Southern, two sisters, Elsie Gearhart and Dorothy M. Southern and half sister Elizabeth Silensky. Survived by brother-in-law Rev. Edgar W. Gearhart of Windber, niece Mrs. David (Carol Ann) Anderson of St. Louis, Mo., nephew John W. Gearhart of Hot Springs, Ariz., great nieces and nephews, Anne E., J. Peter and Laura K. Gearhart, Elizabeth M. and Nicholas D. Anderson. Member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Somerset. A 1949 graduate of Shade Township High School, 1953 graduate of Westminster College where she received a BS Degree in Music Education. Post graduate work at Penn State University. Music teacher for Somerset Area Schools retiring in 1993 with 40 years service. A 50-year member of Trinity Chapter 138 OES, Pa. State Education Association and National Education Association. No viewing or visitation. Service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Somerset, with the Rev. Robert L. Hoover Jr., senior pastor and Rev. Susan H. Yatta, pastor officiating and Rev. James Meyers, eulogist. The family will receive friends at a luncheon following the service. Interment, Richland Cemetery.
