Wesley Rev. 08/18/07 Daily American Rev. J. Wesley Spahn, 83, Somerset, died Aug. 17, 2007, at Somerset Hospital. Born Oct. 16, 1923, in Altoona, the son of Wesley Edward and Pearl Odilla Beatrice (Ishler) Spahn. Preceded in death by parents. Survived by wife, the former Ruth Virginia Hoffer, to whom he dearly loved 63 years; son, Todd E. Spahn, married to the former Donna Clewell, Somerset; grandsons, Trevor Spahn, married to the former Kristin Bigley, Clarksville; and Jonathan Spahn, married to the former Zoey Ogden, Cranston, R.I.; and great-grandchildren, Samantha, Ethan, Emily and Hazel. Member of Beulah United Methodist Church, a 1941 graduate of Altoona High School. Also attended Juniata and Findlay Colleges. U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Worked as an ordained minister from 1957 until 1986. Arrived in Somerset in 1966, where he was on the Somerset United Methodist Circuit which included Husband, Pleasant Hill, Beulah and Mostoller United Methodist Churches. In 1978 he worked the Hooversville Charge which included Hooversville, Kantner and Otterbein Churches. Friends received 3:30 to 5:30 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset, and two hours prior to the service, at the funeral home, which will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday.
