"Katie" Spangler, 79, of Siemon Lakeview Manor Estate, formerly of New Centerville, passed on Aug. 29, 2001 at Somerset Hospital. Born Feb. 13, 1922 in Black Township. Daughter of the late George and Hattie (Nickel) Knopsnyder. Preceded in death by parents, son Dale Jr., an infant daughter, grandson Michael Spangler, brothers, Floyd, Glenn and Lester Knopsnyder, and sisters Audrey Spangler and Fern Sterner. Survived by husband of 61 years, Dale Spangler, sons, Roger, married to Margie Spangler of Brandenton, Fla. and Roy, married to Judy Spangler of Rockwood; daughter Ruthie Kreger of Rockwood; grandchildren, Shaun Spangler, Lisa Martin, and Chris Spangler, and great-grandchildren, Anna, Katie, and Billy Martin, and Riley and Olivia Spangler. Also survived by brothers Ruben and Blaine Knopsnyder. She was a long-time employee of the Summit Diner Restaurant where she baked the pies. She was a charter member of the New Centerville and Rural Fire Department's Ladies' Auxiliary and a member of the Milford Grange. She was a member of the Somerset Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. Friends will be received from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday at Miller Funeral Home, Somerset, where a service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Rev. James Vandervort officiating.
