Spangler, 86, New Centerville, passed on July 11, 2004, at Somerset Hospital. Born Feb. 17, 1918, in Milford Township, he is the son of the late Harry and Ruth (Bridigum) Spangler. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Catherine in 2001; son, Dale B. Spangler Jr., an infant daughter, and brothers Guy, John, Earl and George Spangler. He is survived by his children Roger, married to Margie Spangler, Bradenton, Fla.; Roy, married to Judy, Spangler, Rockwood; and Ruthie Kreger, Rockwood; grandchildren, Shaun, married to Stephanie Spangler; Lisa, married to William Martin; Chris Spangler and great-grandchildren, Anna, Katie, Billy and Allison Martin and Riley and Olivia Spangler. He is the brother of Clarence Spangler, Rockwood. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army in World War II where he served as a gun crewman in the European Theater of Operation. He received a Purple Heart in the campaign. He was a 37-year employee of the B&O Railroad where he was a track foreman. He was a member of the New Centerville and Rural Volunteer Fire Company and was a member of the Somerset Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Miller Funeral Home, Somerset, where a service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday. The Rev. James Vandervort officiating. Full military rites at graveside will be provided by the Somerset County Honor Guard. Interment at Union Cemetery, New Centerville. 07/14/2004 Daily American
