Spangler, 79, Spangler Road, Boswell RD, died April 17, 1999, at Somerset Hospital. Born Oct. 17, 1919, in Jenner Township, son of Charles and Mary (Friedline) Spangler. Preceded in death by parents, sisters: Myrtle Schwartz, Elsie Baughman, Mae Jackson and Ida Maust; brothers: Harry "Pat" and Charles F. Sr. Survived by wife, the former Catherine Eby; two sons, David A., married to the former Sarah Blough, Millersville, and Douglas W., married to the former Susan Whipkey, Jenner Crossroads; also four grandchildren: Stacie, Jeremy, Jesse and Brent Spangler. Brother of: Carrie, widow of James Stufft, Boswell RD; William, Somerset RD; Etta, married to Edward Landis, Berlin; Ruth, married to Dr. Scott Wallace, Provo, Utah; and Richard, Arizona. Member of Mt. Laurel United Church of Christ near Gray. Self-employed accountant for many years. Army Veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific Theater of Operations. Observed 49th wedding anniversary March 4, 1999. Friends received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at Hoffman Funeral Home, Allegheny Street, Boswell, where service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, with the Rev. C.J. Ickes officiating.
