Born Nov. 1, 1929 in Somerset, son of the late Guy and Minnie (Cook) Spangler. Also preceded in death by brothers, Ray and Guy Spangler Jr., and sisters Virginia Spangler and Betty Henry. Survived by wife, the former Shirley Hostetler, and daughters, Mrs. James (Julia) Schmuck of Rockwood and Mrs. Michael (Barbara) Cotchen of Davidsville; and grandchildren James M. Schmuck and Ryan Michael Cotchen. Attended the Kingwood Church of God. Member of Somerset VFW Post 554, Laurel Ridge Sportsmans, Jenner Rod and Gun Club, Bakersville, Lavanasville, and Trent Rod and Gun Club. Retired from Bethleham [sic] Steel. A 1948 graduate of Somerset High School and a Korean veteran. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home, Somerset, where service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Rev. James Monticue officiating. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park.
