Spangler, 80, Rebecca St., Somerset, formerly of Evan City RD 2, died Jan. 30, 1978 in Somerset Community Hospital. Born Aug. 29, 1897 in Somerset County, he was the son of the late Michael and Della (Gohn) Spangler. He was preceded in death by two sisters. He is survived by his wife, the former Jessie Zimmerman (Flummer) Wirick; and these children: Bennett Spangler, Renfrew; Harold Ray Spangler, Bellbrook, Ohio; Sheldon Spangler, Fremont, Calif.; and these stepchildren: Mrs. William (Joan) Tickle, York; Mrs. Jane Allinder, New Orleans, La.; Robert Wirick, Atoka, Tenn.; 23 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Frank (Hazel) Woy, Friedens. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Somerset; the John E. Mair Lodge No. 729 F and AM, New Castle Consistory; and the Somerset Barracks 3218. He was a World War I veteran and a retiree from the Highland Tank Manufacturing. Friends received after 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Richard E. Hauger Funeral Home, where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday with the Rev. Paul Weber officiating. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park. If friends desire, donations can be made to the First Christian Church or to the heart fund. Masonic services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
