Born Feb. 25, 1916, in Somerset the daughter of William Ira and Daisey Elizabeth (Bruner) Baker. Preceded in death by parents, husband Frederick Kring Spangler who died Nov. 3, 1985 and brothers Paul, Frank, Ernest and Merle Baker. Survived by daughters: Mrs. Arthur (Mardianne) Gusbar of Listie; Mrs. Samuel M. (Joan E.) Gamber of Camp Hill; Rev. Jacquelyn DePhillips of Jennerstown; foster daughter Mrs. Douglas (Shirlene) Robideau of Tucson, Ariz., eight grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. A 1933 graduate of Somerset High School. Former co-owner of Oakhurst Tea Room which the Baker family started in 1933 and is presently is [sic] owned by her grandson Jimmy DePhillips. A member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Somerset; Somerset Welfare League; Trinity Chapter 138 OES; Somerset Auxiliary, Johnstown Symphony Orchestra; Somerset Country Club; Somerset Business and Professional Women, and Somerset Hospital Auxiliary. Past president Pennsylvania Restaurant Association; past member Somerset Soroptimist Club. Friends will be received 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset. Funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Trinity Lutheran Church, Somerset with the Rev. Robert L. Hoover Jr., Sr. pastor and Rev. Susan H. Yatta pastor officiating. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park.
