Spangler Jr., 59, Rockwood, passed on Jan. 11, 2006, at Somerset Hospital. Born Aug. 10, 1946, in Milford Township, he is the son of the late John L. Spangler and Grace (Engleka) Spangler of Rockwood. He is preceded in death by his father and granddaughters Joelle and Jenica Spangler. He is survived by his mother, wife Mary (Klink) Spangler, to whom he was married 39 years; son, Jason and wife Donna (Shaffer) Spangler; daughters, Jonna Spangler and special friend, Douglas Gary, Julie Spangler and fiancˇ, Daniel Hay, and grandson Jarrett Spangler, all of Rockwood. He was a 1966 graduate of Rockwood Area High School and a truck driver for more than 25 years, the latter part of which he was the owner/operator of his own coal truck. He was a Milford Township supervisor for 26 years and was employed by Milford Township as road foreman and laborer for 16 years. He served seven years on the Rockwood Area Act 511 Earned Income Tax Office board of directors. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in New Centerville. Though a private person, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be missed very much by all who knew him. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, spotting deer, going for rides with the family, and picnicking with friends. He was fond of Harley Davidson motorcycles and Basset Hound dogs. His dogs Bufford and Sparky gave him his most enjoyment in life. He also enjoyed volunteering at his favorite local festival, the New Centerville Farmers' & Threshermen's Jubilee. There will be no visitation at Mr. Spangler's request. A service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Messiah Lutheran Church. The Rev. Will Osman officiating. Interment at Union Cemetery, New Centerville. Memorial Contributions may be sent to the Somerset County Humane Society. Arrangements by Miller Funeral Home, Somerset.
