Spangler, 66, of Rockwood, RD 2, died May 31, 1989 in Forbes Regional Health Center, Monroeville. He was born March 21, 1923 in Milford Township, son of the late Harry and Ruth (Bridigun) Spangler. Preceded in death by two brothers. Survived by wife of 46 years, the former Grace Engleka; one son, John Lewis Jr., Rockwood RD 2 and three grandchildren. Brother of Dale B., George and Clarence, all of Rockwood RD 2. He was Milford Township Road supervisor for 24 years. Member of Milford Grange #1744. A long time Union Cemetery Association sexton. Member of Messiah Lutheran Church. World War II veteran serving as a corporal in the 8th Army Air Force in the European and African theaters. Friends will be received from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Wilbur D. Miller Funeral Home. Service will be conducted Friday at 1:30 p.m. in Messiah Lutheran Church, the Rev. Donald Knowles officiating. Interment, Union Cemetery, New Centerville. There will be viewing of the remains one hour prior to the service. Daily American, June 1, 1989 [S2485]
