Spangler, 91, of Stoystown, died June 14, 1975 in Somerset Community Hospital. Born Oct. 25, 1883 in Quemahoning Township, son of the late Franklin and Julia (Smith) Spangler. Preceded in death by wife, the former Ivy Austin, who died in 1955; three brothers and two sisters. Survived by a daughter, Verna, at home; sons: Wayne of Pempe, Ariz.; and Neil of Maryland; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was a brother of Mrs. Nellie Hoover of Hooversville; Mrs. Ann Meyers of Cleveland, Ohio; Milton of Stoystown; and Donald of Hollsopple RD 1. He was a former school teacher; farmer, nurseryman; and one of the first official United States Weather Bureau observers. Member of United Church of Christ. Family received friends Sunday evening and will receive friends 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday (today) in the Charles R. Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown, where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Richard H. Shellenberger officiating. Interment, Oddfellow Cemetery, Stoystown.
