Born July 25, 1929 in Berlin, he is the son of the late J. Robert and Eleanor (Landis) Spangler. Survived by his wife, the former Margaret L. Barron; sons, Eric W. Spangler of Somerset and Thomas D. Spangler of Fairhope; and grandsons, Josh, Jake and Jed Spangler. Member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church. Graduate of Somerset High School, class of 1947. Veteran of the Korean Conflict. Coached Little League baseball for 10 years. Worked for 34 years as a meat cutter for the A&P and seven years for Harbers Riverside Market in Berlin. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. today (Tuesday) at the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Edward Ebersole officiating. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, family suggests contributions be made to the American Heart Association, 400 Luray Ave., Johnstown, Pa. 15904.
