Luther Spangler, 71, of 630 Mount Madison Ave., N.E., St. Petersburg, Fla., formerly of Stoystown RD 3, died Oct. 15, 1982 at St. Anthony's Hospital, St. Petersburg. He was born March 23, 1911 in Lincoln Township, son of Claude S. and Nellie (Coleman) Spangler. He was preceded in death by father and infant sister, Margaret L. He is survived by mother of Somerset; wife, the former Agnes Gahagen, whom he married Dec. 29, 1932; and these children: Charles C., Somerset; Donald M., married to Joyce Wagner of St. Petersburg; Mrs. Clifton (Dorothy) Crosbie, Rockwood RD 1; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren; eight step great grandchildren. He was a brother of: Mrs. Evelyn Gibson and Mrs. Edward (Mary) Boyd, both of Stoystown RD 3; Vernon of Harrisburg; Mrs. John (Rosale) Walker and Mrs. William (Lois) Miller, both of Somerset. He was a retired claims clerk with Crown Pontiac in St. Petersburg. He was a member of Rivera United Methodist Church, St. Petersburg. Served in Navy as a Lt. Com. in World War II; past commander of Shanksville-Stonycreek American Legion Post; he was a Penn State graduate; former member of Stoystown Lions Club; Shanksville-Stonycreek School Board; and St. Mark Lutheran Church, Shanksville. Family received friends at Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown, where services were conducted with the Rev. Dale F. Biesecker officiating. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park.
