(Petey) Spangler, 83, of Stoystown, died Oct. 12, 1977 at residence. Born Dec. 20, 1893 in Quemahoning Township, son of Franklin and Agnes (Murray) Spangler. Preceded in death by parents; first wife, the former Ethel Lease; second wife, the former Grace Beal; daughter, Evelyn; five brothers; three sisters and one granddaughter. Survived by these children: Mrs. Alice Fulton, Johnstown; Mrs. Ruth Krouse, Boswell; J. Paul Barefoot of Washington, D.C.; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Brother of Donald, Altoona; Mrs. Ann Meyers, Cleveland, Ohio. Retired farmer and an agent for Friends Cove and Farmers Mutual Insurance companies. Life long member and elder emeritus of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Stoystown and member of Stoystown Lodge; IOOF; Stoystown Hunting Camp; Stoystown Area Senior Citizens and Somerset Chapter 12; AARP. Charter member of Stoystown Lions Club. Served 25 years as Quemahoning Township School Director. Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown. Remains will be removed to St. Paul's United Church of Christ to lie in state from 10 a.m. until services at 11 a.m. Saturday. Interment, Odd Fellows Cemetery. Stoystown.
