"Bud" 08/23/2007 The New Republic April 24, 1931 August 14, 2007 Harold G. "Bud" Sparr, 76, died at his residence on August 14, 2007. Harold G. "Bud" Sparr was born April 24, 1931 in Milwaukee, WI. He was the son of the late Earl and Hazel Sparr. He was also preceded in death by one son, William L. Sparr, a granddaughter, Jacklyn Olsen and a step-grandson, Sam Carver. He is survived by: his wife of fifty-three years, Francis LaVerne Lee; daughters, Suelen Eddie Carver of Hope Mills, Julie Sparr of Gray's Creek and Elizabeth Cassidy and husband Jack of Stedman; son, Leroy Sparr and wife Barbara of Meyersdale; brothers, Ken Sparr and wife Mary of Crivitz, WI; Ray Sparr and wife Dorean of Wausaukee, WI; and David Sparr, of WI; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. For 25 years he worked at Kelly Springfield Tire Company of Cumberland, Md., The Stone Paper Tube Co. in Washington, D.C. and taught at the Beall Vocational High School of Washington, D.C. He served four years in the navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church, Stedman, N.C., a former member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Cumberland, Md.; a life member of The Queen City Region AACA; The Shenandorah Region AACA; a life member of the Wellersburg Volunteer Fire Co. and the Barrellville Outdoor Club; Mason Lodge #730, Stedman, N.C.; Mt. Savage V.F.W. Post #6025 and Frostburg American Legion #024. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 22, 2007 at Zion Lutheran and Reform Church, Wellersburg. Visitation with the family will be from 10:00 to 11:00 that day. Memorials may be directed to Zion Lutheran and Reform Church, c/o Roy Lee, 217 Lee St., Wellersburg, PA 15564.
