Born July 15, 1900 at Sand Spring, she was a daughter of the late George Savage and Lydia (Humberson) Savage. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Spear. She was a former post-mistress at the McHenry, Md. Post Office and a cook at the Point View Inn. Surviving are four sons, George V. Spear, Addison; James Spear and Paul Spear, both of Friendsville; and Richard Spear, Owensville, Ind.; one step-son, Charles Spear, Salisbury; four daughters, Mrs. Doris Friend, Mrs. Betty Turney, Mrs. Lydia Friend and Mrs. Rita Augustine, all of Friendsville; 21 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home where services were conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Ross Glotfelty. Interment, Steele Cemetery. The Republic, March 13, 1986 [S2524]
